  • Pioneer Moving, as well as all licensed movers, will not move hazardous or combustible items such as propane tanks, ammunition, paint, and aerosols, as the temperature in the truck could cause these items to explode or ignite.

  • At Pioneer Moving there are no Hidden charges. Our Hourly Rate has the Truck Fee and Mileage Fee built into it.

    The only other additional charges would be for the Packing Charges, Unpacking charges, Valuation, or any specialty expense based on your unique move.

  • You can add items to your move but it is best to tell your moving coordinator beforehand. Adding items can lead to increased cost, and trouble fitting it all on the truck.

  • We offer a variety of discounted packing boxes and supplies.

  • The best way for you to help the move is to make sure your house is prepared for the move. Make sure everything is packed, labeled, and appliances are disconnected.

  • Your friends and family can be most helpful in preparing for the move by helping you with packing moving boxes or caring for your pets or children. On moving day, you should let the professional movers handle the job entirely. Generally speaking, having non-professionals work alongside the movers slows things down and costs you more in the long run.

  • It is always preferred that you empty out all furniture in order to prevent injury to the movers, as well as damage to the piece. However in the chest is full of exclusively soft items it can be moved full.

  • Sure Can. If you are unable to take immediate possession of your new residence, and need your belongings stored for a Day, Week, or a month, we can help.

  • It is generally fine to leave your clothing in your dresser drawers during the move. With that said, be sure to remove anything from the drawers that may roll around or shift during transport, as this can cause damage.

  • Unfortunately, professional moving companies cannot transport customers in the moving truck for liability reasons.

  • Absolutely. When we deliver your items to your new home, the movers will work closely with you to make sure all furniture and boxes arrive in the correct rooms. We are happy to arrange and rearrange the furniture exactly as you would like it but just remember, for local moves, everything is done by the hour.

  • Nope

  • When the cabinets are made of metal, two-drawer filing cabinets can be left full. When made of wood, plastic, or any other material, the drawers should be emptied.

    If a 4 or 5 drawer file, all drawers should be emptied.

    All lateral file cabinets need to be completely emptied.

  • You do not need to pay a deposit for any local or long distance move.

  • Moving is a physically taxing job, and the movers need time to eat during the day. You absolutely do not have to provide lunch

  • We have a two hour minimum on Local moves

  • No, we unfortunately do not offer that service. However we recommend using the company called The Car Carrier.

  • Yes, we offer short term storage and long term storage at our warehouse.

  • On moving day, we come fully equipped with Moving pads, hand trucks, moving bands, and any/all unique equipment we need for your move.

  • You shouldn’t have to help your movers on the job. Most of the assistance you can provide is during the prep for the move. Make sure everything is packed, labeled, and out in the open so no one misses it.

  • Whether it is someone you know or an online review, a personal recommendation is always the way to go.

  • We recommended using a Wardrobe Box for hanging clothes. Wardrobe boxes can be purchased from Pioneer or at your local Home Improvement Store. If on a tight budget, Trash bags can be used, learn how.

  • We accept all forms of payment: Cash, Check, Credit/ Debit Card, and Certified Bank Check.

  • The moving industry is incredibly seasonal. In the Winter, a good rule of thumb is to request your moving survey / estimate about 2 weeks in advance. In the Summer, we recommend booking your survey at least 4 weeks in advance.

    With that said, a simple rule is the sooner you book your moving estimate the better.

  • To Keep it simple, very important. The purpose of a moving estimate is not only to provide you with an estimated cost of service, but also to make sure, if you book with us, that we bring the proper equipment for your move. Not all moves are the same, so having that unique list of necessary equipment will help bring down your overall cost of moving.

  • For a Local Move, a claim must be filed within 15 days of the Delivery date.

    For a Long Distance move you have 30 Days to File a Claim through Wheaton Van Lines

  • Estimates are completely free, whether you want to do it virtual or at home. Book your appointment today.

  • Your movers will appreciate anything you give them, but if pressed, a general guideline other moving companies use is 4-6 dollars per hour worked. You of course can give more or less depending on the quality of your move or what your budget is.

  • When the movers first arrive, they will do a walk through of your current home, confirming which items are going and which are not.

  • The goal in moving is safety. Safety of the crew, safety of your possessions, and safety on the roads. Our professional movers and moving trucks are prepared to move during rain, sleet, or snow but depending on the severity of the weather, the move may get rescheduled for safety purposes.

  • Actually, rather than scheduling a backup day, it's best to confirm with your mover 48 hours in advance of your move date.

  • Choose a simple labeling system to make sure all of your boxes are clearly marked. We recommend using a color coding system or clearly label each at destination and label each piece going into that room accordingly.

  • You should make certain your dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer are empty. Additionally, movers are not trained electricians or plumbers – you need to arrange for the appropriate professional to disconnect your washer, lighting and chandeliers, and refrigerator from any electric and/or water connection.

    Most importantly, movers are not licensed to disconnect gas, which powers many dryers and ovens.

  • If your moving day is rapidly approaching and it becomes clear that you will not be fully packed, it is critical that you inform your move coordinator as soon as possible. They can work with you to make the best possible “plan b” for packing. This may mean having the movers finish your packing or, if you have the flexibility and availability, pushing back your moving day in order to allow more time to pack.

  • Typically at Pioneer moving we like to be onsite for 8:00-8:30 each morning but we can be flexible with your needs. Discuss with your moving coordinator if you need a later start time.

  • When hiring a full service moving company, the services include: the Breaking down of necessary furniture, the padding / protecting of all delicate furniture, the loading of all of your items, the transportation, the unloading of all of your items, and the reassembly of all the items we had previously taken apart.

    Although Pioneer Moving does provide a Full Packing and Full Unpacking Service, it is not included in a basic house Full Service move.

  • Your first step should be to contact the Moving Coordinator and explain the problem. Often, you will be able to resolve matters at this level with little difficulty.

  • Valuation is the coverage a customer can choose for any damage to personal property that occurs during the moving process. There are 2 types of Valuation: Legal Liability and Full Value Protection. Learn more about Valuation here

  • Unless Packing Services is requested, the customer packs contents into cartons and the mover takes care of protecting the furniture. When packing, use enough filler to reduce the chance of breakage. If you pack the cartons carefully and there is breakage, the adjuster will consider the packing method as a determining factor in liability.

  • We may be biased, but there are a number of reasons to hire professional movers. To keep it simple, a professional mover provides the professional driver, the truck, the moving equipment, the labor, and the necessary valuation to protect you if any damage were to occur.

  • You will be sent an invoice of the bill electronically after signing and paying the bill.

  • For local moving, plants can be moved if it is a one day move. Plants cannot be stored in a vehicle overnight. We recommend that on a multi day move, move your own plants.
